Easier International Travel: E-Boarding Passes to Be Accepted at Indian Airports

International travel from India is set to become a little more convenient from September 1 2026, as passengers will no longer need to carry a physical boarding pass or get it stamped at immigration counters.

The Bureau of Immigration will accept e-boarding passes displayed on smartphones for immigration clearance at all international airports across India. This means travellers can simply show their digital boarding pass on their phone, making the immigration process more seamless and reducing the need for additional paperwork.

Physical boarding passes will continue to be accepted for those who prefer them. However, immigration officials will no longer stamp these passes, helping minimise inconvenience and errors caused by incorrect or improper stamping.

For travellers, the change means less paperwork, fewer formalities and a smoother airport experience making the journey from check-in to immigration a little easier.
