Uzbekistan is set to become far more accessible to Indian travelers, following a landmark announcement during Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s recent state visit to the country. President Shavkat Mirziyoyev announced a 30-day visa-free regime for Indian citizens, removing a major barrier for leisure, business, and cultural travel between the two nations.

Under the announced arrangement, Indian citizens will be able to visit Uzbekistan for up to 30 days without obtaining a visa in advance. The measure is expected to cover tourism as well as broader travel purposes.

The “30-day visa-free regime," according to President Mirziyoyev, would make a significant contribution in developing people-to-people contacts, tourism and business exchanges between Uzbekistan and India.

The visa announcement comes alongside rapidly improving India-Uzbekistan air connectivity, which has now reached 14 direct flights every week. The two countries have also adopted a Tourism Cooperation Programme for 2026–2028 to further expand tourist exchanges and joint tourism initiatives.

Adding another layer of convenience, Indian travellers will also benefit from the expansion of UPI payments in Uzbekistan. This will allow Indian visitors to use a familiar digital payment ecosystem while shopping, dining, and experiencing destinations across Uzbekistan.

For BlinkBrand Solutions, a destination marketing and PR representation company based in India, which has steadfastly worked with the Embassy of Uzbekistan in India and the Tourism Committee of the Republic of Uzbekistan to strengthen Uzbekistan’s tourism profile in the Indian market, these developments represent a major opportunity to help script another new phase of steller growth in Indian visitor arrivals to Uzbekistan.

Through sustained destination marketing, PR, trade engagement and industry outreach, BlinkBrand Solutions continues to position Uzbekistan as one of Central Asia’s most accessible, culturally rich and compelling destinations for Indian travelers.

With easier visas, seamless digital payments, and stronger air connectivity, Uzbekistan is poised for a new surge in Indian visitation.
